Weco awarded EKOO grant to develop offshore charging solution
Wave Energy Collective receives EKOO TSE Electricity 2024 funding to develop E-Sea Charging, an offshore charging station for autonomous vehicles powered by wave and solar energy.

Wave Energy Collective (Weco) is pleased to announce it will be a part of a EKOO TSE Electricity 2024 program project, supported by the Topsector Energiesubsidie van het Ministerie van Klimaat en Groene Groei. This funding enables Weco to advance the development of E-Sea Charging, an offshore charging station for autonomous vehicles powered by renewable energy sources such as solar and wave energy.
The project addresses the growing need for sustainable energy solutions for unmanned vehicles, including drones, USVs (Unmanned Surface Vessels), and AUVs (Autonomous Underwater Vehicles). By extending the operational efficiency of these vehicles and reducing reliance on fossil fuels and human intervention, this innovation aims to support safer, sustainable and more cost-effective offshore operations.
The project is being developed in collaboration with partners including Campus at Sea, Lobster Robotics, DEMCON Unmanned Systems, Holland Shipyards Group, and Coastruction.
